An annual herb. Stems 14-70 cm high, glabrous. Leaves lanceolate, cauline pinnatifid, spinous, toothed, auricle at base. Heads erect, densely white tomentose.
A root extract is taken for the treatment of stomach pain (gripes) by the Tanchangya and for the treatment of childhood illnesses by the Marma.
