Tribal Name: Dub mormoijja (Chakma), Dhup mormoijja (Tanchangya), Cheodhima (Chakma), Paicha (Marma), Sattari (Marma).
An erect undershrub with thickened stem. Leaves opposite, broad elliptic, abruptly acute. Inflorescence usually from old wood. Berry whitish, juicy.
Infusions of the stem are taken for coughs in children and a paste of the stem is also taken for coughs in adults (Chakma).
A paste of the leaves is applied to boils.Leaf extract alleviates coughs in children (Tanchangya).
