Description of the Plant:

An erect undershrub with thickened stem. Leaves opposite, broad elliptic, abruptly acute. Inflorescence usually from old wood. Berry whitish, juicy.

Mode of Uses:

Infusions of the stem are taken for coughs in children and a paste of the stem is also taken for coughs in adults (Chakma).

A paste of the leaves is applied to boils.Leaf extract alleviates coughs in children (Tanchangya).

Distribution:

Chittagong and Sylhet.
