Description of the Plant:

Twiners. Stem twining to right, 6-angled.Leaves mostly opposite, ovate, cuspidate. Male inflorescence- spikes borne groups 2-6 on leafless, unbranched axes. Female inflorescence spikes single or paired in axils.

Mode of Uses:

  • A paste of the leaves is taken for the treatment of jaundice and mumps (Chakma).
  • Curry is prepared from tuber and meat (Bawm).
  • Tubers are boiled or cooked to eat(Chakma, Tripura, Marma, Bawm).
