Mohammad Omar Faruque

Mohammad Omar Faruque Russel is an Assistant Professor of Botany, University of Chittagong. He was born in 1982 at Sitakund, Chittagong, Bangladesh. He obtained B.Sc. Honours (2003) and M.S. (2004) degree from the department of Botany, University of Chittagong. During his M.S. degree, he has conducted research on Marma and Tripura indigenous communities from Bandarban and Chittagong districts of Bangladesh under the supervision of Dr Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, University of Chittagong. His thesis entitled "Medico- ethnobotany of the Marma and Tripura tribal communities of Bandarban and Chittagong districts of Bangladesh". During his research project 94 species in 83 genera under 45 families have been documented from the Marma and Tripura indigenous communities used for the treatment of several disease/ailments.



Reshma Sultana Ratna

Reshma Sultana Ratna was born in 1983 in Munshigonj district, Bangladesh. She obtained B.Sc. Honours (2003) and M.S. (2004) degree from the Department of Botany, University of Chittagong. During her M.S. degree, she has conducted research on Rakhaing indigenous community from Cox's Bazar district of Bangladesh under the supervision of Dr Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin, and her thesis entitled "MEDICO- ETHNOBOTANY OF THE RAKHAING TRIBAL COMMUNITY OF COX'S BAZAR DISTRICT OF BANGLADESH". During her research project, a total a total of 82 species in 77 genera under 51 families have been documented from the different areas of Cox's Bazar districts of Bangladesh by repeated field trips. Now she is working in Sonali Bank as a senior Officer.

Mohammed Ezazul Hoque, son of Mr. Mohammed Mohsin and Mrs. Jobeda Begum, was born in 27 December 1983 at Satkania, Chittagong, Bangladesh. He obtained B.Sc. Honours (2004) and M.S. (2005) degree from the department of Botany, University of Chittagong. During his M.S. degree, he has conducted research on four indigenous communities (Chakma, Marma, Tripura and Bawm) from Chittagong Hill Tracts Districts of Bangladesh under the supervision of Dr Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin. His thesis entitled "ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDY OF MINOR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES OF CHITTAGONG HILL TRACTS DISTRICTS OF BANGLADESH AND ANALYSES OF SELECTED SPECIES". During his research work a total of 135 species under 97 genera in 53 families, have been documented that are used as food and vegetable from the above mentioned indigenous communities. In addition he has analyzed the nutrient contents of eleven minor fruits and vegetables. He is now serving as a officer in Agrani Bank.

MS. Jebunnessa, Daughter of Mr. Md. Abdus Sabur and Mrs. Taibunnessa, was born in 27 December 1983 at Patiya, Chittagong, Bangladesh. She obtained B.Sc. Honours (2004) and M.S. (2005) degree from the department of Botany, University of Chittagong. During her M.S. degree, she has conducted a research under the supervision of Dr Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin. Her thesis entitled "ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDIES ON THE BAWM COMMUNITY OF BANDARBAN DISTRICT, BANGLADESH". Now she is a Ph.D. Research Fellow of International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM).

Abu Shahdat Mohammed Sayem, son of Md. Shah Alam and Azizer Nesa, was born in 01 January 1983 at Begomgonj, Noakhali, Bangladesh. He obtained B.Sc. Honours (2010) and M.S. (2011) degree from the department of Botany, University of Chittagong. During his M.S. degree, he has conducted research on Chak indigenous communities of Bandarban district of Bangladesh under the supervision of Dr. Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin. His thesis entitled "ETHNO BOTANY OF THE CHAK COMMUNITY IN BANDARBAN DISTRICT OF BANGLADESH". During his research work A total of 185 plant species under 81 families have been documented which are used for the treatment of various types (25) of diseases/ illness as well as other purposes (house making, tools and craft food etc.). He is now serving as an Executive Officer in Agrani Bank.

Parag Chandra Das, son of Mr. Haradhan Chandra Das and Mrs. Sandha Rani Das, was born in 01 January 1983 at Begomgonj, Noakhali, Bangladesh. He obtained B.Sc. Honours (2010) and M.S. (2011) degree from the department of Botany, University of Chittagong. During his M.S. degree, he has conducted research on Chak indigenous communities of Bandarban district of Bangladesh under the supervision of Dr. Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin. His thesis entitled "ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDY OF MURONG TRIBAL COMMUNITY IN BANDARBAN DISTRICT OF BANGLADESH". During his research work A total of 186 plant species Under 76 family have been documented which are used for the treatment of various types of diseases/ illness. He is now serving as an Executive Officer in Janata Bank.

MS. Susmita Paul, Daughter of Mr. Subrata Kumar Paul and Mrs. Sabita Rani Paul was born in 1 January 1983 at Cox's Bazar. She obtained B.Sc. Honours (2004) and M.S. (2005) degree from the department of Botany, University of Chittagong. She conducted her M. S. thesis project under the supervision of Dr. Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin in the field of Ethnobotany entitled "ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDIES ON THE RAKHAING COMMUNITY OF MAHESHKHALI ISLAND OF COX'S BAZAR DISTRICT, BANGLADESH". She is working as a Quality Control Officer at Tea Factory, Chittagong.

Md. Nurul Amin khan son of Mr. Md. Hafiz Uddin and Most. Rokeya Begum was born in 6 June 1985 at Nageswari of Kurigram district, Bangladesh. He is a Lecturer of Botany at Kurigram Government College, Kurigram. He passed the B. Sc. Honours (2007) and M.S. degree (2008) from the Department of Botany, University of Chittagong. In his M.S. course, he conducted his thesis project under the supervision of Dr. Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin in the field of Ethnobotany. His thesis project entitled "ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDIES ON THE PANGKHUA COMMUNITY OF BELAICHHORI UPAZILA IN RANGAMATI DISTRICT, BANGLADESH". During his research work, a total of 144 species under 48 families have been documented from the Pankghua indigenous community from the different regions of Bandarban district.

Md. Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury, son of Mr. Md. Shirajuddulah and Mrs. Jahanara Parveen, have passed the B. Sc. Honours from the Botany Department in 2007. In his M.S. course in 2008, he conducted his project work under the supervision of Dr. Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin in the field of Ethnobotany on the Tanchangya tribal community of Rangamati district.

Tangida Yeasmin, daughter of Mr. Farid Uddin and Mrs. Hosne Ara, have passed the B. Sc. Honours (2007) and M.S. degree (2008) from the Department of Botany, University of Chittagong. In her M.S. course, she conducted a project under the supervision of Dr. Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin in the field of Ethnobotany. Her project paper entitled "ETHNOBOTANY OF THE TRIPURA COMMUNITY IN MIRSARAI UPAZILLA OF CHITTAGONG BANGLADESH."

Noor Hassan Sajib was born in 1987 at Chittagong District of Bangladesh. He obtained B.Sc. Honours (2009) and M.S. (2010) degree from the department of Botany, University of Chittagong. He conducted his M. S. thesis project under the supervision of Dr. Shaikh Bokhtear Uddin in the field of Taxonomy and Biodiversity entitled "Plant diversity and their distribution pattern in Sandwip Island, Chittagong, Bangladesh". He is engaged in research in the field of Biodiversity, Taxonomy, Ethnobotany and Environmental Science. His research have resulted 5 articles in national and international journals. He presented 3 research articles in scientific conferences. He is now serving as an Inspector/Investigator in the Department of Environment.
