Brassiopsis palmata Kurz.

Description of the Plant:

A small sparingly branched prickly tree. Young petiole, undersurface of leaves and inflorescence tomentose with rusty stelate scurf. Panicles large, bracts short, umbels racemed on the panicles branches.

Mode of Uses:

  • Crushed leaves of Brassiopsis palmata and Mussaenda roxburghii are mixed with clarified butter oil (ghee) and used as a treatment for rheumatism (Chakma).
  • Root extract is taken for the treatment of orchitis (Murang).
  • A root extract is taken for fever (Tanchangya).

Distribution:

Chittagong, Chittagong Hill Tracts and Cox's Bazar.
